I was intending on leaving Farnham about 8am to head into London and to Lords, but as it had rained all the previous afternoon, evening and all morning...it put a dampener on my plans (pardon the pun!!) Instead I spent the morning becoming increasingly frustrated with European train websites - all I wanted to do was book a train from Paris to Zurich...but after 2.5 hours of not being able to access an english language site, I gave up. First really frustrating time with travel plans to date so shouldn't complain too much.
Az and I met at Lords at 12.15pm and were told play would start an hour later. Great sitting in a smaller venue (compared to MCG!!). Cricket a lot more intimate. Fascinated with 5 guys sitting next to us - you can bring 1 bottle of wine/2 pints of beer in per person. The produced 2 x bottles of Verve champagne, once consumed out came the pre-mixed Pimms but with separate bag of mint and extra lemonade, then they had a beer each (bought at the ground), and were going to finish with a bottle of red and cheese. Food they had was good too - guys said that they have the catering down pat after 6 years in a row going to the cricket. Az and I had 1 bottle of white and one of red wine, and an impressive array of food in our picnic.
Was great to see a number of Sri Lanka wickets fall then England come in to bat - Strauss out for a duck! Sri Lanka supporters were very excited about it.
Had a wander around the ground, lovely buildings and a relaxed atmosphere. Not many people in attendance.
I left the cricket about 5pm as had arranged to meet Olly at the Globe Theatre at 6pm for a bite to eat before the Shakespeare play "Much Ado About Nothing". The play was excellent - very entertaining and well done. The lead female was sick with gastro but the girl who filled her place did really well.

Thanks Al for the advice - hire a cushion as the seats are hard, and take layers as it is an open air theatre and it gets cold. She was right on both fronts - especially as the play went for 3 hours!!
After driving back to Farnham (took over an hour), ended up being a late night but so much fun.
