Day 61 - Dingle

I knew this time would come sooner or later, and today it hit me – I collapsed in a heap and was really flat.  I’m not saying I want to pack up and go home – not at all!  My back is playing up (note to self – regular sun salutations!!) and I’ve got myself in a bit of a stew (balancing travel plans that are flexible vs fixed; to spend or not to spend money on various things; basically thinking too much).
I had an Irish breakfast (minus the black and white pudding) then went back to bed to map out the rest of my Ireland trip and then my Turkey trip.  Thanks to all for your emails and communication, I’ve loved hearing from people.  I’m trying to balance my time on a computer but love hearing from people and it seems the blog is a hit so will keep going with it – also enjoy reflecting myself on what I have done so far.
Decided to get out in the fresh air in the afternoon, weather was clear so drove back up Connor Pass.  The view was incredible, not as windy and it was sunny so I stayed at the lookout about an hour enjoying the view.

Helped immensely so came back to town and just wandered around the streets and shops.  Found a brilliant store that produces locally made cheese – there is a farmers market tomorrow so will get picnic supplies.

Dinner out was at a quiet restaurant that serves really good food, called An Canteen.  Had a lovely Hake dish, just would love something other than potatoes as a side!  Most days I have breakfast where I am staying as included in the cost (even if I stay in a hotel, not a B&B) then only snacks (nuts, dried fruit, muslie bars, coffee) til dinner time.  I’m getting used to eating by myself, trying to limit take-away meals as don’t get to experience local foods (more costly but worth it for flavour generally) and to meet people.
Got some great advice from the guys in the restaurant re my travel plans the next day, then wandered around town to a pub advertising 2 female singers performing that night.  They were good, pub was packed and enjoying their voices and guitar (think the Waifs but a more folksy version).  Got talking to Matt from Colorado (huge number of American and German tourists in Ireland), had a couple more drinks with him whilst we talked travel.
Funny moment: Woman (with American accent) “You wouldn’t make Margarita’s would you?” Irish waitress “Äh, no!”  Suppose you had to be there, I chuckled.
