Day 146 - Girlies weekend away

Yipee, going away with Olly and Yvie for the weekend (Yvie, otherwise known as Yvonne, is another Australian chick who Olly met when she lived and worked in WA many years ago.  Yvie lives close to Olly and is her buddy in crime).  We slept in then packed for our trip.  We got going at about 11am, but due to issues on one of the motorways, it took a bit longer than we expected to get down to Brighton.

We had contemplated a number of places for our weekend away, and Brighton ticked all the boxes.  I did visit Brighton in 1993 (remember the trip Susie??), but did not remember much so it was great to go again.  Unfortunately the weather was not the best, so after leaving our bags at the hotel, we headed out to a pub for lunch and a couple of drinks.  The weather did not get any better, so we dodged rain showers and had a look around the shops.  Brighton is very popular with males and females for bucks and hen's weekends (oh yeh, did you know that the Europeans go away for a whole weekend at least for these events, and often go to another country!!) so it was entertaining watching the goings on.

Late afternoon we headed back to the hotel to properly check in, have a shower and get ready to go out.  I had brought back from France a nice bottle of champers, which Olly, Yvie and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Chicks night out in Brighton

We had a couple of recommendations for places for dinner, and got into the second option.  It specialised in seafood.  I must say, I did enjoy my meal - actually all of us enjoyed it, and the bottle of wine.  Next stop was a bar for more drinks.  It took awhile to find something that suited us ie not full of 18 year olds, and had good music.  By about 11.30pm we were in full swing when Yvie suddenly felt unwell.  Fortunately she made it to the toilet, but then it was obvious that we needed to get her back to the hotel and quickly.  The poor love ended up being so sick, throwing up for the next 3-4 hours!  She thinks it was the oysters she had for entree that did it.  It was so disappointing for us all, but we were so thankful we were staying close by.
