A brilliant night sleep and woke up to steady rain. It cleared whilst we ate breakfast. We packed our things, checked out of the B&B, then headed to Lakeland Quads – we had booked an 80 min quad bike ride on this property.
We had the BEST time on the bikes. It took a little while for me to get my confidence up and manoeuvre the bike properly (really hard to do in the wet and muddy conditions), but once I got the hang of it I was driving along, with a huge grin on my face. We had been provided with waterproof pants and helmets – despite this we were all quite muddy. Paul our guide took us along really rocky and we tracks up to the top of a peak on the property so we had a magnificent view of the surrounding area. It was a mix of pure exhilaration and tension being on the bikes, and a fabulous experience (especially as I had been on one earlier in the trip whilst in Morocco – with the hot French guy).
After the quad bike ride we headed back towards Warrington, via the Yorkshire Dales. The landscape was such a contrast to the Lakes District. We passed miles and miles of stone fences, bright green fields, black faced sheep, big hairy cows and loads of motorbikes. Julien loves driving, and Maria and I loved being the site-seeing passengers.
Back to Warrington, we just had a quiet night in. What a brilliant weekend it had been.
